Senator Bong Go on Friday said he has always admired the work firefighters do to save lives as he congratulated a new batch of Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) recruits.

“I have been to many fire incidents around the country and have seen you do what is expected of you, and sometimes even more,” Go told the graduates of the Fire Basic Recruit Course Class Mawaraw 2019-04 of the National Fire Training Institute.

Meanwhile, Go said he will continue to push for the improvement and modernization of the BFP to help firefighters better prevent and respond to fires.

The senator mentioned his Senate Bill (SB) 204 that aims to provide firefighters better equipment and resources to train its personnel. The measure also aims to beef up the firefighting force by hiring and training more BFP personnel.

Moreover, SB 204 targets to establish Fire Protection Services and rescue hotlines in all LGU to help in accidents, disasters and calamities.

Earlier, Go said SB 204 is a priority bill fully supported by the President.

Go said he hopes the bill will become a law and implemented in the next three years.
