BAGUIO CITY — The Baguio City government is not giving hope in realizing the rehabilitation of the Loakan Airport to attract more investors to the city.

Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong said it is best for the city’s economy that Loakan airport will be rehabilitated and beautified for the convenience of travellers, business owners and tourists.

Magalong said it is very essential to let the great opportunity continuously enter the City by ensuring its access whether by land or air.

According to Magalong, he was able to talk with National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) chief Ernesto Pernia about the rehabilitation of the lone airport in the city.

He said NEDA is amenable to the proposed rehabilitation plan and even approved appropriate funding for it.

During the last city administration, Pernia said the proposed P492 million rehabilitation of Loakan Airport is doable considering all necessary things to be done prior to the actual rehabilitation works to ensure its smooth implementation.

He also stressed the importance of making the airport accessible to help in boosting the economic growth of Baguio City.
