Former Pangasinan governor and congressman Amado Espino Jr. was reportedly fighting for his life in a hospital while four of his bodyguards and driver were killed in an ambush on Wednesday, Senator Richard Gordon said in a tweet.
“The victims were all riding a Toyota Inova van with no back-up. This is completely unacceptable in this day and age, yet it happens with impunity. The police should be able to track down the perpetrators if they act fast,” read Gordon’s tweet.
The victims’ car was riddled with bullets after the ambush in Barangay Magtaking, San Carlos City, Pangasinan around 4:30 p.m., according to reports.
The San Carlos Police Station has launched a dragnet to capture the ambush suspect or suspects.
