Carpio declines CJ nomination

Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio on Tuesday declined his automatic nomination for Chief Justice.

Carpio, who is supposed to replace Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin who retires 18 October, said he refused the nomination because he is also retiring on 26 October.

On 19 August, Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen likewise declined his nomination as Chief Justice.
