San Miguel Beer weathered a big fourth quarter rally by Talk ‘N’ Text and got a double-double output from Chris McCullough to beat the KaTropa, 106-101, in Game 4 of their Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup best-of-seven finals series Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
McCullough made 27 goals and grabbed 22 rebounds to help his team level the series to 2-all.
Down by 9, 81-90, with 6 minutes to go, the KaTropa launched a 15-8 run capped by import Terence Jone’s freethrows with 40 seconds to go that cut the deficit to 2, 96-98.
San Miguel Beer responded with a 4-0 run anchored on June Mar Fajardo and Alex Cabagnot who sank two freethrows to give his team a 102-96 cushion with 16.3 seconds left.
A Troy Rosario trey with 12 seconds to go cut TNT’s deficit to 3, 99-102, but Cabagnot doused cold water on the KaTropa rally by sinking 2 freethrows with 10 seconds to go.
Chris Ross sealed the win for the Beermen with two more charities with 4 seconds left.
Jones paced the KaTropa with 31 points and 16 rebounds.
