A 19-year-old ukay-ukay vendor admitted he was lured to deliver a package containing P3.4 million worth of suspected shabu after being promised by a friend that he would be paid P5,000 to bring the item to someone.
“Anybody would be tempted by P5,000. I’m just a vendor,” Omar Ampaso Sultan told reporters in Filipino while in police custody.
The suspect, a resident of Abris Street in Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City, was arrested along Sto. Nino Street in Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City during a buy-bust operation conducted by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Friday at 1 p.m.
Seized from him were four pieces of knot-tied transparent plastic bags containing half a kilo of suspected shabu.
Sultan denied knowing that the package he was to deliver contained illegal drugs. Had he known it was shabu, Sultan said he won’t deliver it in exchange for money.
