Malacañang suspends classes, work

Malacañang announced the suspension of work in government offices and classes in all schools at all levels in Metro Manila effective 3 p.m. today, 2 August, due to inclement weather.

The announcement was contained in Memorandum Circular No. 63 issued by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.

The suspension of classes and work was based on the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, according to the memo.

However, government personnel involved in delivering basic and health services, disaster preparedness or response and other vital services shall continue their work.

Meanwhile, the suspension of work for private companies, offices and schools is left to the discretion of their respective heads, the memo read.
