Road widening and additional road access are among the government projects under the “Build, Build, Build” program that will target completion before President Rodrigo Duterte’s term ends in 2022.
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar, guesting at the Kapihan sa Manila Bay forum on Wednesday, said about P500 billion must be incorporated in the 2020 budget to complete their projects on time.
Villar also dismissed reports that their loan agreements favor China.
“We have partnerships not just with China. We have partnerships with Japan, Korea, US, even European countries. I don’t think there’s a bias with China,” Villar explained.
Some projects completed under Duterte’s “Build, Build, Build” were 9,845 kilometers of road, 2,709 bridges, 4,536 flood control projects, 82 evacuation centers and 71,803 classrooms. With Kyle John Antonio
