TNT KaTropa clinched the quarterfinal bonus after dismantling Blackwater, 115-97, in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner’s Cup on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Terrence Jones registered his third triple-double game with 36 points, 16 rebounds and 14 assists to lead KaTropa to their eighth straight win for a league-leading 9-1 win-loss card and pocket the twice-to-beat incentive in the next round.
“I’ve been saying all conference long we’re building the confidence of the other guys. They will gonna knock down those shots and a lot of teams, they’re making them pay,” said Jones.
Five more TNT players hit double figures in scoring with Troy Rosario leading the charge of the locals with 14 markers as KaTropa needed a strong second period to pull away after a tight first quarter.
Ray Parks led the Elite with 21 points while Mike Digregorio added 19. Import Staphon Blair and Allein Maliksi each had 16 points for Blackwater, which dropped to 6-4 in the team standings.
