Tale of two thieves

Days ago, there was a “religious” burglar who broke into a house, but not without gesturing the sign of the cross for all the closed-circuit security camera to capture.

It made him into a kind of an internet sensation, and the footage worked for his identification and maybe, his eventual capture.

That was too much for a prayer, and we all know now that karma — in case you believe — has become digital.

But yet another thief tried to prove the other is no match with him, as he showed on Thursday how he could have earned pleasure from the pain of trying to cart away with two pressure tanks heavier than his body weight.

Only that he got caught and he is now feeling the pressure of proving himself innocent of trying to steal the two pressure tanks worth P90,000 from a construction warehouse in Marikina City.

The Police identified the suspect as Ariel Gamban, who goes by his alias Wapeng, and is a very young 24-years old, with not much capability to lift like a bodybuilder or a weightlifter.

Despite knowing this, he still broke into the warehouse of the Construction and Drilling Specialist Inc., located along Santan St., Barangay Fortune at around 10:30 p.m. and took the pressure tanks.

He dragged the items out of the warehouse, where his arresting officers waited.

“No pressure,” the Police said after cornering the suspect with his heavy loot.

He could not have gone too far with his load anyway.
