The Department of Transportation (DoTr) is embarking on the drafting of a 30-year transportation development roadmap for the Philippines with the help of StratSearch Foundation Inc.

DoTr Secretary Arthur Tugade on Monday met with political scientist and StratSearch Executive Director Dr. Clarita Carlos together with her team to discuss the planned roadmap.

In the meeting, Tugade said there is a need to have standardization and harmonization across all sectors of transportation, while assuring safety and environmental compliance of vessels and vehicles.

The discussion also tackled the need to identify “anchor” transportation projects in every region and province to promote growth in areas outside Metro Manila.

Officials also present in the meeting were DoTr Undersecretary (Usec) for Finance Garry de Guzman, Usec. for Railways Timothy John Batan, and Usec. for Road Transport and Infrastructure Mark de Leon.
