Angela Perez, a Grade 7 student of General Pio del Pilar National High School in Makati, had a special visitor on Tuesday.
National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Major General Guillermo Eleazar personally came to see Perez, whose parents are detained at the Makati City Police Community Precinct 1.
Perez initially went to the community precinct to ask her parent’s arresting officer, Police Corporal Claro Fornis to act as her guardian, a mandatory requirement for enrolment, but the cop wasn’t there.
Upon learning of the condition of Perez, who is suffering from thyroid cancer, Fornis informed Eleazar about the girl’s case.

“I want to be a policewoman,” said Perez, explaining her desire to finish studies despite her ailment and her parents’ detention due to illegal drug offenses.
Eleazar lauded Fornis, who said he is more than willing to be Perez’s guardian.
“Maaring hindi na nakikita ng publiko itong mga simpleng kabutihan ng mga pulis dahil minsan hindi newsworthy, pero kung makikita natin ang ating mga pulis, may mga pamilya rin sila, kaya nakaka-relate sila sa sitwasyon ni Angela,” said Eleazar.
