Congressman-elect Pantaleon Alvarez on Friday assured the people of Davao del Norte that their votes shall bring forth change to the province as he thanked his supporters.
“As your elected leaders, we shall never cease working hard in providing the best and genuine service,” Alvarez said in a statement.
“I convey my deepest appreciation and thanks to the people of Davao del Norte, a province I call my home, for their support. Truly, the will of the people was expressed with the outcome of the elections held last May 13, 2019,” added the representative of the 1st District of Davao del Norte.
The former House speaker also said he was humbled by the trust his constituents have reposed on him and vowed to continue the historic developments and progress achieved during the past three years.
Meanwhile, Alvarez thanked President Rodrigo Duterte, chair of the PDP-Laban, and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, chair of Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) for their leadership, both at the national and local level, and for making sure that the 2019 elections in Davao del Norte was peaceful, orderly, and fair.
“Now that elections are over, I offer my hand in peace to heal our deep and divisive wounds. Borrowing the words of a statesman from an era long past: A house divided against itself cannot stand… though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. We are not enemies, but friends. The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature,” said Alvarez.
He added, “Let us rally together for the cause of unity and progress in our Davao Region and our beloved country. Let us consolidate our efforts in making true change and uplift the lives of our countrymen.”
