Former Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Saturday thanked loyal supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte for staging an online rally in support of pro-administration senatorial candidates.
“Maraming salamat po sa inyong patuloy na suporta sa amin at kay Pangulong Duterte,” said Go, noting the significance of the support coming eight days before the 13 May 2019 elections.
The theme of the online rally held at Promenade Hall in Greenhills, San Juan was “Makasaysayang online rally sa Pilipinas para sa mga tunay na kakampi ng bayan saan man dako ng mundo.”
Go said the familiar faces in the event supported then Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and persuaded him to run for president in the 2016 elections.
So kayo ang dapat sisihin (sa pagkapanalo niya),” Go said.
He urged them to extend their support not only to his own senatorial bid but also to fellow administration candidates endorsed by the president like Sen. JV Ejercito, former PNP (Philippine National Police) chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, and former Presidential Political Adviser Francis Tolentino.
Addressing overseas Filipino workers (OFW) watching the online rally, Go reiterated his proposal to create a Department of OFW that will streamline the process of providing service and assistance to migrants.
He recalled that during his stint as SAP, he received many requests for assistance from distressed OFW. In one case, nine male massage therapists who were hired to work in Kuwait were exploited to provide sexual services. Go said they filed charges against their recruiter who went into hiding but was eventually arrested.
Go acknowledged the sacrifice of OFW who have chosen to leave the country to work in order to provide for a better future for their family. He added that it is the priority of the current administration to provide quality service to them and to protect their welfare.
One of his brainchild, the Malasakit Center, is based on the same principle of speedy delivery of services.
A project of the Duterte administration, the Malasakit Center makes it easier and faster for poor patients to avail of medical and financial assistance from the government by bringing together in one room concerned agencies such as the DoH, DSWD, PCSO and Philhealth.
Go is pushing for a law to institutionalize the Malasakit Center and establish additional centers in more provinces and strategic urban areas in the country.
Go said he would also pursue programs for agriculture, education, housing for the poor, long-term sports development, fire protection and prevention, localized peace talks, barangay welfare and improved benefits for senior citizens.
Wala po kaming ibang interest kundi kabutihan ng bawat Pilipino dahil mahal namin kayo,” Go said.
