NGCP places Luzon grid on ‘red alert’

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines has placed the Luzon electrical grid on red alert status from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. today, 12 April, signifying low electricity supply.

The red alert status was preceded by a yellow alert status from 8 a.m. to 9.m. Past 10 p.m., the yellow alert will take the place of the red alert.

The change from red to yellow late in the evening would reflect lower electrical demand when most people are already asleep and factories not on 24/7 operations are shut down.
