Talk ‘N Text trounced Alaska, 92-78, to post its fourth straight win and book a quarterfinals seat in the Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup Friday night at the Cuneta Astrodome.

After a 38-point victory over Blackwater last week, the KaTropa sustained their hot form as Roger Pogoy engineered an early run to post a 48-37 lead at the half. The KaTropa never surrendered the lead from there as they padded the deficit to 20 points, 85-65, midway through the final period en route to the impressive win.

With the win, the KaTropa improved to 6-3 and marched into the next round together with Phoenix, Rain or Shine and San Miguel Beer.

They are also in the hunt for the twice-to-beat playoff bonus.

“We’re thankful for this win but we’re still a work in progress. We still have a lot of things to do,” said head coach Bong Ravena.

“At least with this win, we still have a chance to finish at top two for the twice-to-beat incentives. We just have to be consistent and treat every remaining game a must-win match.”

Pogoy finished with 24 points, three rebounds and three assists while his fellow national team member Troy Rosario racked up 15 points, five rebounds and two steals to lead the way for TNT.

Carl Bryan Cruz, meanwhile, put up 19 points for the Aces, who suffered their third straight loss to slide at ninth place with 3-5 record.
