The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has given candidates for the 2019 elections until 28 March to remove all their illegal campaign posters and tarpaulins before the campaign period for local election starts on 29 March.

“We will be coming out with a ‘notice’ by the end of the week for local candidates to start taking down their materials,” said Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez on Thursday.

The campaign period for candidates for members of the House of Representatives and elective regional, provincial, city, and municipal officials is from 29 March to 11 May.

Meanwhile, Jimenez assured that the Comelec is continuously implementing the “Operation Baklas” activities or the dismantling of illegal campaign materials nationwide.
