PNP: No violation on Bong Go visit

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday clarified that it did not violate any law after it invited former Special Assistant to the President and senatorial hopeful Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go to an event at the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame a day before the start of the official campaign period for the 2019 midterm elections.

PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde in a statement said that Go – who reportedly gave a speech, met with hundreds of college students and had a press conference inside Camp Crame in Quezon City on Monday – attended the event as an honorary member of the Association of the Chiefs of Police of the Philippines Inc. and not as a political candidate.

“I think we have not violated any provision or instruction of the President,” said Albayalde. “We are not endorsing anyone here whatsoever.”
