A magnitude-5 earthquake struck Surigao del Sur Saturday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Philvolcs) said.
According to Phivolcs, the quake’s epicenter is at at 173 kilometers northeeast of Surigao del Sur’s Hinatuan town at a depth of 47 kilometers.
The quake that struck at 5:47 a.m. was tectonic in origin, Phivolcs added.
There was no reported damages and no casualties as of presstime. Francis Earl Cueto
