Motorcycle bomb’ explodes in Maguindanao

Another explosion rocked the southern Philippine region as a motorcycle believed to be carrying an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated in front of a school on a highway in Maguindanao province on Tuesday.

Initial reports from Captain Arvin Encinas, spokesperson of 6th Infantry Division said that an Army Explosive and Ordnance Division team has responded to the area and the incident occurred at Barangay Tambunan in Talayan town at about 12:30 p.m.

Colonel Wilbur Mamawag of the Army’s 603rd Brigade, on the other hand, confirmed that an IED was attached to the motorcycle that was still engulfed with flames when responding troops arrived.

The blast occurred days after a twin bombing incident blamed on Indonesian suicide bombers killed 23 people and wounded more than 100 inside a packed church in Jolo, Sulu.
