Duterte to rally behind BoL

Malacanang on Tuesday announced that President Rodrigo Duterte is set to attend an assembly in Cotabato City to drum up support for the ratification of the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BoL) on Friday.

Presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo said that the President is scheduled to appear at the event to be held at the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Office of the Regional Governor compound.

The BoL plebiscite is set to take place on 21 January for voters within the ARMM, Isabela City in Basilan and Cotabato City while those residing in Lanao del Norte except Iligan City and six North Cotabato municipalities will vote on 6 February.

Records from the Commission on Elections show at least 2.8 million voters are expected to participate in the plebiscite for the ratification of the BOL, which aims to end decades of conflict in Mindanao by creating a political entity that would enjoy greater autonomy than the ARMM.
