Revilla acquitted; Napoles, Cambe guilty

The Special First Division of the Sandiganbayan today acquitted former Sen. Bong Revilla of plunder, while his co-accused Janet Lim Napoles and Richard Cambe were found guilty.

The court said the prosecution failed to prove Revilla’s guilt beyond reasonable doubt on the diversion of P244.5 million of his so-called “pork barrel” fund to Napoles’ bogus non-governmental organization.

Still, Revilla has pending graft charges regarding the use of his Priority Development Assistance Fund.

The acquittal of Revilla is being seen by some quarters are precedent-setting for similar cases against former Sens. Juan Ponce Enrile and Jinggoy Estrada over allegations they received kickbacks from their own PDAF.
