Push for ML extension signed by AFP, PNP

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday signed the recommendation for a third extension of martial law in Mindanao.

AFP chief of staff Director Carlito Galvez and PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde signed the proposal to extend martial law and will be submitted to Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana to be transmitted to Malacañang for approval next week.

Both the military and police heads cited the “lurking” threat of terrorism for prolonging martial law in the south all throughout 2019, but Albayalde stressed that the recommendation to extend martial law will not push for its expansion over other parts of the country.
