The first “landport” in the country, the Parañaque Integrated Transport Exchange (PITX), will open on Monday, 5 November, the Department of Transportation announced in a Facebook post on Sunday.
The PITX will serve as a transfer point for provincial and in-city buses to lessen the number of provincial buses passing within Metro Manila. It will have scheduled trips, organized loading and unloading areas, escalators and elevators, automated fare collection and online ticketing system.
The landport also has high-tech amenities such as 24-hour CCTV cameras for the security of travelers, clean and gender sensitive restrooms and shower rooms, clinic, breastfeeding station and prayer room.
The PITX is a project of the DoTr and the MWM Terminals Inc., a subsidiary of Megawide.
“We want all Filipinos to be able to have a first-world experience, and this is our benchmark for all our infrastructure projects. We’re helping to improve the quality of living in the Philippines, and we can start by delivering a friendly, first-world terminal experience at PITX,” said Louie Ferrer, president of MWM Terminals.
