Go: Lingap building in the works

A P25-million Lingap Building is likely to be inaugurated this year, according to Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go.

The President’s special assistant said that the four-story building — which will be constructed within the compound of the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) — will house all the government agencies offering medical assistance to the indigent patients.

Go said that agencies such Lingap sa Mahirap, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) and Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) will be present in the building.

The government agencies will be relocated to be new building to be more accessible to the patients. It will serve as a one-stop shop to expedite the process of the releasing medical assistance.

“It may be used anytime this year,” Go said.

He also acknowledged that at its present location, it is not convenient for the people. The area is small and warm, but when the building will be completed, it will give the clients a more comfortable environment.

The building was funded by the Office of the President. This is the only Lingap Building established in the country.
