Following the win of Maureen Wroblewitz in last year’s staging of Asia’s Next Top Model, it looks like the Philippines is leaving no stone unturned in sending more formidable competitors for this year’s edition of the popular fashion reality competition series.
Adela-Mae Marshall, 20 and Jachin Manere, 21, are both attempting to give the country its second straight Asia’s Next Top Model title. A quick look at their respective backgrounds revealed that they got the tools to not only go very far in the competition but also to take their career to new heights regardless of how they would fare.
If Adela-Mae looks very familiar, it’s because she was a contestant in the second season or cycle of Philippines Next Top Model where she gave eventual winner Angela Lehmann a good run for her money and ultimately finished second overall.
Now the former PPop Generation artist is ready to chase her dreams of international recognition and take it to the next level, bringing not only beauty but also all-around skills in swimming and music.
Jachin, on the other hand, has been a sought after model since she entered the industry at the age of 18. Without any prior modeling experience, the gutsy young lady joined the ranks of the top models at Professional Models Association of the Philippines (PMAP) and has never looked back. Over the years, Jach has built up her portfolio, gracing multiple runways shows and magazine covers.
Adela-Mae and Jach will compete against 12 other contestants from Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and Singapore. Expect the 14 finalists to slug it out in the weekly challenges designed to test the young women’s poise, intelligence and aptitude for high fashion runway and print modeling.
In the five-year history of the competition, the Philippines has also had three first runner-up finishes in Stephanie Retuya, Jodilly Pendre and Monika Sta. Maria. Thailand is the only country to win twice while Malaysia and Singapore have won once.
Back for another season of fashion, feuds and rigorous competition, Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 6 will be hosted by Asian supermodel Cindy Bishop for the third season in a row. Renowned celebrity fashion photographer Yu Tsai will once again act as Creative Director to help mentor and guide the models through the competition. Other familiar faces include well-loved Asia’s Next Top Model alumni like Monika Sta. Maria from Season 3, and Shikin Gomez and Nguyen Minh Tu from Cycle 5.
The new season will premiere on FOX Life with a simulcast livestream on FOX+ on Wednesday, August 22 at 9:00PM. For exclusive news and updates about the program, please visit www.asntm.com and follow AsNTM on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
