Warning to PUJ drivers: Don’t use PPP card for groceries

As part of the government’s initiative to ease the burden of high fuel price, jeepney drivers and operators will be given fuel subsidy under the Pantawid Pasada Program (PPP) starting today.

Under the PPP, jeepney drivers and operators will be provided a debit card containing P5,000 or P833 per month until the end of the year and use the amount in buying fuel. For next year, the fuel subsidy would be P20,500.

But the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said that the PPP beneficiaries will be automatically delisted if the card is swiped for purchases other than fuel at a gas station.

The PPP is a project of the LTFRB, Department of Energy, Transportation, Budget and Management, Finance, and Land Bank of the Philippines. Dean Carlo Ventura
