Finn Jones and Jessica Henwick, the lead stars of the Netflix produced hit series, “Iron Fist” are among the Hollywood celebrities that have confirmed their appearance at this year’s AsiaPop Comicon Manila.
The two actors are also known for their supporting roles in HBO’s epic fantasy series, “Game of Thrones.”
Jones, 30, is an English actor who has been acting professionally on film and television since 2009. Worldwide recognition came two years later when Jones was cast in the role of Ser Loras Tyrell in “Game of Thrones.” Jones was part of the series until 2016 when his character was killed.
The following year, he was cast as protagonist Danny Rand in the hit Netflix series, “Iron Fist” based on the Marvel comic book superhero. He would later reprise the role in “The Defenders” and “Luke Cage,” two other shows set in the same Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Henwick, 25, is also an English actress of East Asian descent who also began her acting career in 2009 but only gained global prominence in 2015 when she was cast as Nymeria Sand in “Game of Thrones.” That same year, she portrayed X-Wing pilot Jessica Pava in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
In “Iron Fist” and “The Defenders,” Henwick plays martial artist Colleen Wing who teaches self-defense lessons to disadvantaged kids.
In a press briefing to launch the annual event dubbed as “the biggest annual pop culture convention in the Philippines and region,” Abdulla Mahmood, director for marketing and international business of Al Ahli Holding Group that organizes AsiaPop Comicon Manila promises a “bigger and better” edition this year.
“We continue to bring unique talent and content to APCC Manila 2018, from superstars to artists who have made indelible impact on the pop culture scene. The Universal Events and Entertainment team are in sync with the APCC audience to understand which TV shows, movies, talents, artists, and content resonate well in the region and continuously work to offer them a memorable experience filled with surprises that put Manila on a global pop-culture map with such an event,” Mahmood noted.
AsiaPop Comicon are expected to make more more exciting announcements of on its partnerships with Marvel, Netflix, and other studios confirmed to return this year.
AsiaPop Comicon Manila 2018 is slated to happen from July 27 to 29 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
