CHICAGO, United States — At least eight people were killed and several others were wounded Friday in a shooting at a high school in Texas, US media reported, as President Donald Trump said the situation was “not looking good.”
“School shooting in Texas. Early reports not looking good. God bless all!” Trump tweeted.
A reporter for local network KHOU cited three sources saying that at least eight students at Santa Fe High School were killed.
CNN reported “multiple fatalities,” citing unnamed sources.
Santa Fe HS Assistant Principal Dr. Cris Richardson was quoted as saying by Houston Chronicle that the shooter has been arrested. But the identity of the shooter was not immediately available.
Reports said students heard gunfire around 7:30 a.m. and teachers herded them to secure areas in the school building until police arrived.
SWAT teams also arrived at the campus and safely evacuated the hiding students.
