SENATOR and multi-titled boxer Manny Pacquiao has clarified that he has not fired trainer Freddie Roach, but will announce this week whether or not he would retain him.
Pacquiao made this clear in a message posted on his Instagram account.
The post read: I will make a final decision within the week. When that decision is made, Freddie will be the first one to be informed, and then I will advise the media.
Pacquiao also said he has no decision yet as to the composition of his training team for his next fight against WBA champion Lucas Matthysse of Argentina on July 15 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Pacquiao’s Canadian manager Michael Koncz was earlier reported as saying that the boxer’s Filipino trainer, Buboy Fernandez, will replace Roach as head trainer.
Roach was reportedly hurt by Pacquiao’s decision to terminate his service as head trainer without personally informing him.
Reports say Pacquiao blamed his loss to Australia Jeff Horn in Brisbane on July 1, 2017.
