PCG seizes unregistered motorbanca in Boracay

PERSONNEL of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Boracay have seized an unregistered motorbanca in Boracay Island on Wednesday.

The unregistered motorbanca, M/bca Charles, had illegally ferried 30 passengers from Sta. Fe, Romblon to Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan, according to Lcdr. Wilmo M. Maquirang, station commander of CGS Romblon.

Coast Guard personnel were deployed to Sitio Tulubhan, Barangay Manoc-Manoc and Bolabog, where they waited for the vessel to arrive.

Upon the arrival of the Charles in Barangay Bolabag, Boracay Island at 12 p.m., the Coast Guard team boarded and inspected the vessel skippered by Oscar S. dela Vega and operated by Dondon G. Gigilan, whose business address is at Barangay Agmanic, Sta. Fe, Romblon.

The Charles was found violating Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Maritime Industry Authority regulations such as leaving port without a PCG clearance, failing to comply with the Masters of Safe Departure, operating without a Certificate of Public Convenience, operating without Passenger Insurance Cover, and operating without a Certificate of Philippine Registry.
