THE Intelligence chief of the Norzagaray, Bulacan police died a hero’s death early Monday during a shootout with the target of their anti-illegal drugs operation.
Killed was Police Officer 3 Ronaldo Legaspi during an operation against suspected drug pusher Rolando Padura who, according to Senior Supt. Gerardo Andaya, had a string of criminal cases.
Padura opened fire upon seeing the policemen, killing Legaspi who was hit four times. Padura himself was killed by the other policemen.
“Ito palang suspect natin ay may baril so nakabunot siya ng baril at naunahan niya iyong ating police officer,” said Andaya.
Seized from the suspect was a 9mm pistol, money and six sachets of suspected shabu.
Legaspi left behind three children and his wife. His colleagues said he was close to retiring when killed after 21 years of service.
