MORE than 7 million poor Filipinos under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) will get an additional P200 subsidy from the government on top of the cash aid they are getting, according to the Department of Finance (DOF).
The additional monthly subsidy would be raised to P300 per month next year and in 2020, the DOF said.
The cash subsidy for 4Ps beneficiaries is intended to help poor families on their food and school expenses.
The beneficiaries are indigent families with at least one pregnant woman or children aged 0-14.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) distributes the cash to beneficiaries through ATM cards.
The DSWD has alloted P89 billion from its 2018 budget for 4Ps.
