FILIPINOS prefer career over love life based on the result of a Social Weather Station (SWS) survey conducted from December 8-16, 2017.
The survey asked 1,200 respondents nationwide this question: “In case you have to choose between your love life and career, which of these two would you choose?”
About 59 percent or three out of give Filipinos chose career and 41 percent chose love life, the survey result showed.
Majorities of 60 percent among women and 57 percent among men choose career over love life.
Most who prefered career were also single. Among single men, 82 percent of those who are widowed/separated/divorced and 77 percent of those who never married would choose career over love life, higher compared to 53 percent among those with live-in partners and 50 percent among marrieds who would choose the same.
Among single women, 83 percent of those who never married and 80 percent of those who are widowed/separated/divorced would choose career over love life, compared to 65 percent among those with live-in partners, and 49% among marrieds.
The survey also showed that about four out of five or 81 percent among those who have no love life would choose career over love life, compared to 57 percent among those who wish to have a happier love life, and 54 percent among those with very happy love life who would choose the same.
However, 84 percent say it is possible to succeed in love life and career at the same time with 66 percent saying they experienced it, according to the survey.
