Mutaz Essa Barshim of Qatar makes his winning jump in the London World Championship.

LONDON, UK — Qatar’s Mutaz Essa Barshim dominated the men’s high jump to win the world title on Sunday.

Barshim managed a best of 2.35 metres, with silver going to Russian Danil Lysenko, competing as a neutral as the Russian federation remains barred from international competition over widespread state-sponsored doping.

Syria’s Majd Eddin Ghazal claimed bronze with a best of 2.29m on countback from Mexican Edgar Rivera.
