TALK ‘N Text survived Rain or Shine’s determined comeback to post a 105-102 win that formalized its entry in the quarterfinal round of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo Sunday.

Roger Pogoy and Ranidel de Ocampo provided the points that mattered most as the Texters escaped with their eighth win in 11 games.

With the count tied at 101-all in the last 64 seconds, the two teams swapped offensive miscue each, with Jayson Castro missing an open three-point shot during TNT’s play, and James Yap missing  two penalty free throws.

Then came Pogoy who struck for a long shot, which looked like a three-point shot at first, shattering the count and giving TNT a 103-101 lead, 26 seconds left.

RoS sued for time after that, but was too unfortunate as Yap bungled two field goal attempts.

Although he drew a foul in his second attempt, he missed the front-end of his penalty shots, hence failing to tie the count, 103-102, 5.2 seconds to go.

De Ocampo then fished a quick foul after the inbound play, and coolly sank two charities as TNT sealed the win, and sent the Painters reeling to their sixth loss in 11 games.

Joshua Smith led the Texters with 23 points and 12 rebounds, while De Ocampo emerged as easily the most consistent among the TNT locals after scoring 21 points.

The scores:

TNT (105) – Smith 23, De Ocampo 21, Rosario 11, Reyes 10, Pogoy 10, Tautuaa 9, Garcia 9, Rosales 5, Castro 3, Williams 3, Semerad 1, Carey 0.

Quarterscores: 22-16, 51-39, 78-71, 105-102.
