PNP releases latest ‘real numbers’ in anti-drug campaign


The Philippine National Police (PNP) has released its #RealNumbersPH weekly update indicating figures related to the campaign against illegal drug as of May 17, 2017.

According to the update, the number of anti-drug operations conducted by police reached 58,751 from July 1, 2016 to May 17, 2017. The number of drug personalities arrested reached 74,650 and 2,999 drug personalities died during anti-drug operations during the period.

Meanwhile, 41 police officers were killed and 112 other officers were wounded in anti-drug operations since the campaign started.

The total number of homicide cases from July 1, 2016 to May 15, 2017 is 12,000 of which 2,071 are drug-related, 2,345 are not drug-related, and 7,584 are deaths under investigation. The figures were reported by the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management of the PNP.

The PNP Internal Affairs Service investigated 168 cases of PNP personnel who were allegedly positive for use of illegal drugs of which 158 were resolved and 158 officers were dismissed. WJG/CNC
