Bataan-Manila ferry no license to operate — MARINA

The boat of a ferry service company that announced on Wednesday the operation of the vessel between Bataan and Manilahas has no authority to sail in the said route, according to the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA).

“As per our record, this company has no authority to operate. Although the company has inquired on the requirements last week, no follow-up was made since then. Therefore this vessel is in violation of our rules and regulations as it has no valid documents to do any business,” said MARINA Administrator Marcial Amaro in a statement.

Amaro was referring to the Magic Leaf Logistics, which conducted the test run of its ferryboat MV XGC Express on Tuesday. The company is reportedly owned by Goody Ilagan.

Bataan Gov. Abet S. Garcia, other local officials and guests reportedly took part in the test run of the XGC Express.

Garcia said the the ferry service between Port of Orion and the Mall of Asia will start its operation as soon as the company completed its application for permits and other documents, according to a report of the Manila Bulletin. WJG/CNC
