Breastfeeding mothers gather for Hakab Na 2016!


Hakab Na 2016!  brought together breastfeeding mothers Saturday all over the Philippines in celebration of National Breastfeeding Month.

The Hakab Na aims to create awareness of the health and economic benefits of breastfeeding, promote the importance of providing proper support to breastfeeding mothers and ultimately, create a breastfeeding nation.

The first Hakab Na! was held on 3 August 2013 with a total of 225 mother-baby pairs participating from locations nationwide and abroad.

Mothers rallied for their breastfeeding rights in various locations in Manila, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, and Singapore.

Attendance to the 2 August 2014 event ballooned to 1,772 mother-baby pairs in Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao, Bacolod and Iloilo.

In Manila, 170 mothers overtook 2013ʼs count of 100 mothers.Hakab Na! 2014 Manila also featured two learning activities on infant and young child feeding and breastfeeding support from breastfeeding experts.

2015 Hakab Na! was even bigger with over 1,712 mother-baby pairs from 14 locations nationwide and 2 abroad.

The whole-day event featured various activities including a BFP Live talk show with breastfeeding advocates and founders of BFP.
