TALK ‘N Text wiped out a 10-point deficit and leaned on a strong windup to beat Meralco, 98-95, for a share of the early lead in the PBA Governors’ Cup Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

It was the second straight win for the Tropang Texters who also defeated Rain or Shine, Wednesday, 101-98, giving them a share of the early lead with Mahindra and San Miguel Beer in the season-ending tournament.

The Elasto Painters bounced back from that loss to TNT by upending Phoenix, 106-89, late in the day.

“Phoenix gave us a scare all the way to the 4th(quarter). They’re a good team, they just lack experience; that’s where our advantage is,” said RoS coach Yeng Guiao after the win. “Phoenix, they’ve been consistent, one of these days they’re not gonna break apart, they’re not gonna collapse and beat teams.”

The Bolts tumbled to their first loss after a 2-0 start, going down to fifth spot, while the Fuel Masters absorbed their third straight setback and remained stranded in the cellar.

Jayson Castro led the team with 24 points, including nine during a torrid offensive in the middle of the third that saw the Tropang Texters erase a 65-55 Meralco lead and level the count at 74-all at the end of the same period.
